This will be our first Christmas without our Auston. We will miss him so much. His laugh and his smiling face was contagious and he always seemed to enjoy our family get togethers. We will keep his memory alive always. Auston, enjoy your first Christmas with Jesus and with your grandparents. We will see you again one day.

First Summer with my little buddy Auston

Our Place at the lake was sold about the time we moved
into our home on Yanceyville Rd.....but we still had the
Ski Supreme.....we were working Pretty hard to get all
done at the house and get moved in with two baby boys...
..but Shelia and I still liked to Ski and we had many good
friends out at the lake who welcomed us with open arms
to visit. So on Saturday or Sunday Mornings we would
pack up real early and be putting our boat in the water by
8am. Solomons car seat would slide right in front of the
ski pole and we could strap the seat to the pole....
Auston had a rocker seat that had a belt on it to hold him
in and we sat that seat on the observer seat. So when
we made a turn he would rock slowly too one side then
back as we straightened up. I pulled Shelia about 30 mph
and she pulled me about 36 mph we would get in a couple
runs a piece and then feed the boys and ourselves breakfast.
Then we could go over and visit with our friends The
Bondurants who were our neighbors at Carolina Marina.
As the boys became BCM later I was named by many in
the area when we lived there.. the Sheriff or the Mayor....
1978-1981 LOL The Pictures above are when we were
visiting the Bondurants. An amazing event occurred during
this time. Summer of 1979 was dry and the lake
was down about 2.5 feet. Sept 12th Hurricane Frederic
made landfall in Alabama and made it's way north and when
it got to NC we got about a foot of rain. It was kind of a
surprise, many boats were still in the water at the lake and
it rained 3days....Luckily we were there..I turned a many
bilge pump on that weekend. The lake came up to full Pond.
..Plus 6 inches was going over the spill way on one side and
6 inches going under the other side. water was all the way
flush with our dock........By the fall of 1982 the boat was
finally sold and we began to raise the fine young boys
My Mom and Dad lived at North Myrtle Beach and we
began to go visit with them about 5 times a year. All Three
.....Solomon, Auston and Nicole who was born in 1984.....
really enjoyed the beach. That is one of the reasons why
I had another Memorial on the Beach at 11th avenue South
......the same area we spent so much time. There were 11
of us there on the evening of Sept 15th 2010 ...
(Kim, her sister Pam, Blake and Pam's
daughter Maggie, Kim's Mom and Dad....Mr. and
Mrs. Long and Kim's brother Arnold, Tim and Pat Turner
and their Daughter Karrie and I) .....Kim, Maggie and
Pam read some pretty poems and then we all said the
Shepard's Prayer. Karrie wanted to spread a scoop
of ashes so we both walked to the water edge and she
threw a scoop into the wind. She held my glasses and I ran
on into the waves and took the rest of his ashes in with me.
The rest of the group walked to the water and threw some
flowers into the waters edge and they all lined up and went
out to sea.......as a final Tribute to Auston we set off 28 shots
of awesome fireworks. Two boxes, one was a 16 shot box
for his first 16 years and then a 12 shot box for his last 12
years...It was Fitting that the 12 shot boxes was bigger and
louder. But I know Auston soooo enjoyed the times we
had on that beach..... He is surely missed by many.........
Next Post I'll try to keep it lighter...for you and my sake....
Most Sincere,
Auston's Loving Dad Andy
